State of the Art School The academy is a state of the art school, with classrooms equipped with
the latest technology (smart board), computer lab and a cosmetology library located in the theory classroom and the practicle
skills classroom offers an environment for learning for the freshman and sophpmore classes. Seniors are promoted
to the SBA school salon upon achieving hourly and performance based skills. The academy offerers cosmetology
training that prepares a student with the theroy knowledge and practical experience to pass the Cosmetology Virginia
State Board Examination and to become entry level into a cosmetology salon.
Entry Level Cosmetologist After completing school
training and passing the State Board of Cosmetology exam, the student may proceed into entry level salon positions as a Cosmetologist.
Cosmetology Defined
Cosmetology is a specialized field of study devoted to developing practical and
creative skills in a broad range of cosmetic arts. In general, the study of cosmetology means learning how to help people
look their best. It includes the science of hair and skin, the art of hair designing, hairstyling, haircutting, hair
coloring, hair relaxing, perming, makeup application, skin care, nail care, as a part of a total image counseling course.
Business and salon management skills are also taught.
